Camping Update

Important Camping Update;

Just had a call from Caroline at the Lambourne End Centre. The bottom field is like a swamp, so instead we can camp out in the top field, nearer the main road. The gate for this area is a bit further on from the main entrance. I suggested to Caroline that no-one would realise what was going on and so she will put signs and directions in clearly visible areas. The main gate may very well remain locked by way of a guide.

As regards kitchen and washing, we will be allocated facilities in the main residential block.

Aaarghh! We fear change!!!! Especially small ones!!!!

Do pass on this information.

Skills Workshop

What: Marcus from Newton’s Shred and Gravity is Pink’s Christine will be talking safety and

board maintenance to you and get you rolling or help you refine your skills in a friendly and
relaxed atmosphere. We will look at the individual components of your setup and find out
what they do for your ride. We’ll talk about how to stay safe when skating and minimise the
risk of injury and then it’s time to get your skate on! Regardless of where you’re at we’ll
cover the basics for you, from pushing to footbraking, sliding to carving and everything in
between. Everyone’s welcome, even if you have never stood on a board before and would
just like to get a little taste or perhaps even just come along to watch and meet likeminded
people – this is for you! Participants will be divided into 2 groups, general beginners and
downhill beginners for those of you ready to tackle some hills!

Where: Redbridge Cycling Centre, Essex. More details here:
http://hoghillskating.blogspot.co.uk/

When: Sunday, May 20 from 12 noon

What you need:

* Your board

I do not have a board (yet), can I still come?

Sure, anyone’s welcome regardless of where you’re at with your skating. If you’ve never
stood on a board and would simply like to have a look and/or learn some of the theoretical
gear stuff we’ll be looking at that’s absolutely fine. If you want to skate (which we hope you
do!) but don’t have a board, please let us know in advance so we can arrange for some test
boards courtesy of Newton’s Shred.

* A skate tool – so you can (dis)assemble your board. If you do not have a skate tool, you can
purchase one here: http://www.newtons-shred.co.uk/unit-skate-tool-various-colours.html

Select the pick-up option and collect from us on the day or buy one directly at the event.

*Your helmet – if you do not have a skate helmet, perhaps you have a bike or ski/snowboard
helmet. Please note, no helmet no ride!

* Knee and elbow pads as well as slide gloves or wrist guards are optional but recommended.

Please note that you participate at your own risk! You will be required to sign a liability
waiver form at sign-up upon arrival. If you are under the age of 16, a parent or guardian will
need to be present. Please visit the main event website for further details:
http://hoghillskating.blogspot.co.uk/

Please note:
We want to give you all our undivided attention, therefore numbers are limited to 15
participants. To partake in the workshop, please register here:

If you are already registered for this event and would like to attend the workshop, please send
an email to alex[at]newtons-shred.co.uk with the subject line “May Hog Hill Workshop” and
you’ll be added to the list.

Meanwhile, if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to post them here or email
them to christine[at]gravityispink.com or atg-atb[at]hotmail.co.uk.

We look forward to seeing you there!
